On September 21, 2024, His Grace, Bishop Gerasim, with many priests and other clergy participating, came to Holy Cross to consecrate our church building!
In a glorious 4-hour service, the altar table was washed and prepared, the holy relics of Saint Basil (Vasily) Martysz were sealed into the table, and the table was consecrated. The church building was also blessed and consecrated. Our beloved Deacon George was elevated to Protodeacon, and Stephen and Benjamin were tonsured Readers. After the consecration, we were blessed to participate with His Grace, Bishop Gerasim, in a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy in our newly consecrated church building! At the conclusion of the service, Father Christopher and Holy Cross parish were blessed with a Synodal Gramota for the long, arduous process of buying the land, the capital campaign, and the designing and building of the church. The members of the Building Committee were blessed with Gramotas from the Bishop for their long service in this task of many years.
The celebrants and the faithful then gathered for a sumptuous celebratory banquet, with talks about the history of the parish and the church building project, toasts and blessings, and joy all around.
Many thanks to Sergey for these lovely photographs!
